Proper operation of a reverse osmosis water treatment system is critical to its efficient operation. It prevents membrane damage due to excessive water leakage or water hammer. Following correct operating procedures also helps ensure the system operates within design specifications and meets water quality and efficiency goals.
Before the system startup process begins, film preprocessing, loading the Filmtech SW30HRLE-400 8-inch film cassette, instrument calibration, and other system checks must be performed.

To avoid damage to the Filmtech SW30HRLE-400 8″ membrane filter, do not allow sudden pressure changes or accidental flow through the cyclone filter element during startup, shutdown, cleaning, and other operations. During startup, it is recommended to transition gradually from standby mode to operating mode as follows:
- The delivery pressure should be increased gradually over 30–60 seconds.
- The cross flow velocity at the set operating point should be reached gradually within 15–20 seconds.
- The resulting discharge must be removed within the first hour of work.

The Filmtech SW30HRLE-400 8-inch nanomembrane filter removes 99.9% of salt from seawater in minutes.
The World Health Organization estimates that more than 785 million people lack access to clean drinking water. Although 71% of the Earth’s surface is covered by seawater , it is undrinkable. Scientists around the world are working on effective and cost-effective methods to desalinate seawater. Now, a team of South Korean scientists may have found a method that can do this in just minutes.
Only 2.5% of the Earth’s total water supply is available as freshwater, which is the primary source for most human activities. Climate change is leading to fluctuating rainfall and the drying up of rivers, forcing countries to declare water scarcity for the first time in history. Unsurprisingly, desalination is the simplest solution to this problem. However, these processes have their limitations. One of these is the wettability of the Filmtec SW30HRLE-400 8-inch membrane filter.
When filtering seawater with the Filmtech SW30HRLE-400 8-inch membrane filter, the membrane must remain dry for an extended period of time.
When the membrane becomes wet, filtration stops, causing a large amount of salt to pass through the Filmtech SW30HRLE-400 8-inch membrane filter. With extended use, we’ve noticed that the membrane gradually becomes wet, which can be remedied by replacing it.
Yun-cheol Woo, a researcher at the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology, and his team have developed a membrane that is less sensitive to moisture and more stable in the long term.
The 8-inch Filmtec SW30HRLE-400 membrane filter consists of nanofibers woven into a multilayer, three-dimensional structure using electrospinning nanotechnology. Using this technology, researchers were able to develop a membrane that is highly hydrophobic, meaning it repels water.
The hydrophobic nature of the Filmtech SW30HRLE-400 8″ membrane filter is an advantage as it does not allow water molecules to pass through.
Instead, a temperature difference is applied on both sides of the Filmtech SW30HRLE-400 8″ membrane filter, causing water to evaporate and convert into steam at one end. The membrane allows water vapor to pass through, which then condenses on the cooler side.
